While most “Trout” Caddis patterns out there work just fine for this type of fishing they are not ideal for swinging and holding on to bigger trout and steelhead. So Hogan Brown started messing around with tying my caddis patterns on bonefish hooks. He figured bonefish hooks are built to tie small bodied flies and hold on to bigger hard fighting fish. So after many variations and small tweaks he came up with a pretty simple traditional caddis soft hackle build for swinging for BIG fish.
