Beaver belly fur is a naturally fine, soft dubbing material with fibers that are slightly longer than those found on the back, making it excellent for dubbing that needs both smoothness and a touch more loft. Still naturally water-repellent, it works well for dry flies, emergers, and thoraxes, while the extra fiber length also makes it suitable for wet flies and blended dubbings where added texture is helpful. The belly area produces lighter, pale-colored fibers, giving tiers a naturally clean base for cream, tan, or light-bodied patterns without heavy dyeing.
