Description
Description
Designed by stillwater specialist Denny Rickards, the Emerging Bugger bridges the gap between a nymph and a streamer. Built on a 2XL nymph hook, it rides that in-between zone where trout feed hardest—just below the surface.
A 50/50 blend of Angora and Ice Dubbing gives it the right mix of movement and translucence, while a soft hackle collar adds life with every pause or lift. Unlike the Seal Bugger it evolved from, the hackle is concentrated behind the head, giving the fly a looser, pulsing profile that looks like something halfway hatched and halfway fleeing.
Fish it on a sink-tip or full sinking line with short, upward lifts to imitate an emerging nymph, or crawl it slow like a small baitfish. It’s a simple, effective pattern that earns its keep in any stillwater box.
