Description
Burkheimer’s 11 foot 7 inch 7 weight spey rod is one of our favorite all purpose two handers, equally capable of casting both Scandi and Skagit heads with ease. The rod is light in hand and can be cast and fished for days with minimal fatigue. Ideal for summer steelhead in the Pacific Northwest, the 7117 is stout enough to take on most steelhead you’ll encounter. We fish this rod extensively on the Lower Deschutes and feel it is perfect as a short to mid range rod and effectively covers most of the water we fish. We’ve also taken this rod to the Skeena system, and while covering water is not a problem, tackling some of those larger fish is a chore. When it comes to big steelhead it has just enough backbone to get the job done, although if you can handle a heavier rod we would recommend it. That being said the 7117 is always close at hand and part of our year ’round quiver.
Reel Seat: T-6061 dark anodized aluminum
Guides: Chrome Nanolite stripper and hard chrome snakes
Blank Color: Deep Cedar Green
Winding Check: Nickel Silver
Cork Inlay: Three layer
Handle: Hand sorted select Flor grade cork
