RIO'S Shooting Heads - now called the RIO Outbound Short Shooting Heads - are designed to be cast very long distances. The front loaded weight distribution quickly loads a rod, while the unique step down taper at the back allows for very long flight times and easy distance. The heads are built accurately to the AFTMA standard, and RIO recommends that casters step up two sizes to correctly load modern fly rods. In other words, put a #8 head on a #6 rod. Each head has an easy ID loop for quick recognition; attach this loop to the shooting line.
