These Metz Saddles have an exceptional stems making for ease of handling for flies such as the classic Parachute Adams, which may require longer stems for more wraps around the parachute post. A single 8" - 12" feather can last up to half a dozen dry flies. Its not uncommon for some commercial tiers to get over 500 flies with one Metz Full Saddle.
What are Grades "#1" and "micro barb #2"? "Grades" are designated to saddles according to how many flies can be tied with one saddle considering one or more of these quality features.
- length of feathers
- barb density / Barb stoutness
- stem strength
- Quantity of feathers per skin.
*That means Grade #1 will have the highest of these qualities. Though #2 having less, both are still excellent dry fly capes.
