The Hardbite Star Cleat™ + Vibram tread = Spider Man like traction. Here on the OP we've personally used these Hardbite star cleats and they're our favorite for multi-terrain properties. Be it the middle of winter over large slime covered rocks, hiking through the dense Olympic Peninsula jungle or over wet slimy logs jams on the river bank. In the summer they cut through thick, green goo covered rocks gaining much needed traction. These Studs bit into and grip to it all adding a level of confidence and safety that supersedes all others.
User Note: We installed 20 cleats/ 10 per boot into our G3 Guide boot and over a year 3 fell out. We noticed that a cleat or two would fall out periodically. If this has happened to you Simms recommends putting aqua seal onto the threads of the screws when installing the star cleats. Make sure when installing screws to apply even pressure and do not over rotate once the screw will go no further (otherwise its the equivalent of striping the threads) An electric drill (set on the lowest setting, and go slow) or a simple screwdriver will work just fine.
